Q.

My son is in jail for non-payment of child support in Indiana. He owes $3100.00. Do you know how long they keep them in jail and also, how does this get paid if he is in jail???? Thanks

I do not know for sure how long your son stays in jail in Indiana for non-payment of child support. Generally, being in jail for non-payment of support means that your son has not paid this in some time and that they won't let him out until it is paid. While I agree that jail is not the best place to earn an income, in my experience, it does prompt cash flow - from hidden savings, friends, family and especially mothers. Sometimes if the money remains unpaid for some time (months), then perhaps the amount would be reduced.

I'm sorry that you have to suffer your child being in jail, but he's going to have to work something out to take care of his children.
