My husband took out a pay-day loan. He passed away 2 weeks before the loan was due. Because he was on Social Security his check stopped. He is the only one that signed the agreement. My question is, am I responsible for that loan?

A.
I am sorry for your loss. You certainly have better things to worry about than this loan.
No, YOU are not liable for this loan. It is a debt of your husband's estate and how it is treated will depend on many things. No need for you to pay it. If someone calls you about the loan or tries to collect, I suggest that you tell them that your husband died and that they are not to call you and instead must send all communications in writing. It might be the case that it is set up for some kind of autodraft from your bank account, so I suggest you check on that.
